Contraception shouldn't be one-size-fits-all.

Millions of women either opt out of birth control or say they would switch if there were something better.1

Upsilon is an agent of change – empowering women to stop settling for life-compromising contraception. We are dedicated to delivering unparalleled devices, products, and technology through a deep understanding of gaps in women’s reproductive health and innovation.

About Us

Copper Free The future of contraception is this way

We are breaking the cycle
We are breaking the cycle
We are breaking the cycle
We are breaking the cycle
We are breaking the cycle
We are breaking the cycle
Our IUD is designed differently
Hormone & Copper-Free

Highly effective at preventing pregnancy due to the inert materials, and the mechanism of action that elicits a natural biochemical response, and a reduction in sperm transport.

Body-Conforming

Conforms to the natural shape of the uterus and is available in multiple sizes depending on stage of life to reduce irritation and ensure comfort.

Disruption-Free

One-time insertion, years of protection. Also, no surgical disruption or altering of the natural bodily and chemical function.

Our mission
Our Story

Meet our founder, Antonella Sturniolo, MPH

Antonella has devoted nearly a decade to researching women’s reproductive healthcare, technology, and marketplace.

She developed Upsilon after researching the life of her brilliant Grandfather, an OB/GYN who invented one of the first IUDs back in the 1960s. His IUD was used globally by thousands of women until his death in 1982 and the collapse of the IUD market during the mid-1980s. Despite having never met her Grandfather, Antonella was told many inspiring stories of the lives he changed with his device. Driven to know him, she ventured into the world of his clinical studies which inspired her to build on his technology to develop state-of-the art contraception, celebrate his legacy, and create innovative solutions to help women worldwide.

Our Mission

While Upsilon applauds reproductive developments to date, it also recognizes the significant gaps in reproductive healthcare that still exist.

Driven by the belief that women should not have to compromise their health or settle for a less-than-satisfactory solution, Upsilon aims to innovate reproductive health options that more closely meet the health and lifestyle needs of today’s women. To bring this vision to life, we have built a global team of researchers, scientists and executives with extensive women’s health and leadership experience across the globe.

Our first milestone is to launch a new contraceptive option: the Upsilon IUD. An IUD that adapts to you, not the other way around. It is the only chemical (hormone, copper, and metal) and plastic-free IUD.
